Local events, be it a surf contest, the city lights, or a meteor shower, can be great places to capture new and interesting subjects and/or increase the production value of a video. One of the events that I look forward to every year includes one of my favorite subjects of all time; New Year’s fireworks.

Party of the Year 2015

While fireworks can be seen on Oahu every Friday in Waikiki and of course on the 4th of July, those firework shows can’t compare to the grand spectacular that is a New Year’s firework show. This year, an event that stands out as one to attend and that has been advertised all over the island is the Party of the Year!! at Kaka’ako.

This 5th Annual party down at the Kaka’ako Waterfront includes carnival rides, food from Eat The Street vendors, live music, and firework shows every hour starting at 9pm ending with a Grand Finale at midnight. Whether you like to shoot long exposure, time lapse, portraits, light painting, are looking for a magical background for a short video, or just want to experiment with your new camera, this could be a great environment to do it all. Bring your family, friends, and camera and prepare for a fun time and some great photo and video opportunities.

Tickets are $45 for General Admission right now. Visit the official page for more event info at http://www.nyehawaii.com.

We’d love to see what images or videos you captured so feel free to share them in the comments below.
