For our first event, we had a great turnout… Especially given how close the event was to Thanksgiving and the short notice we gave. It was really nice to welcome an audience ranging from broadcast professionals to high school students and answer questions of all types.
Our first guest speaker was Joel Campos of Studio Red Wedding Cinema. Joel wowed the audience sharing a recently completed wedding short (same-day-edit).
Our second guest speaker Gerard Elmore, a local director+filmmaker and chairman of Ohina Film Festival shared a music video he shot in in 2011 with only a back pack full of gear and a tripod.
I shared a little about some of the differences between shooting on film, camcorder and DSLR as well as talking about the rapidly evolving production and post production industry.
We also had a Andrew Magpoc of MM Pictures drop by to share a little about his recently successful Kickstarter campaign for his new creation called the “ModoGrip.”
It was a great time of learning and meeting new people. We’re looking forward to our next meet up and hope that everyone else is to.
